This illustrated calendar was designed to visually complement the look and feel of New Tradition Company in Worcester, MA. New Tradition doubles as a café and a small motorcycle repair shop, started by talented local musicians. The calendar's illustrations are inspired by the American traditional tattoo style and feature imagery that is classic as well as relevant to the interests of the shop's patrons. The layout of the illustrations themselves is a nod to traditional tattoo shops that display flash sheets on the walls, filled with art ready to be applied to the skin.
The calendar is not only functional and useful but also serves as a marketing strategy for New Tradition. Each page features a "drink of the month" coupon to encourage existing customers to try new items and to attract new customers with specialty flavors, gourmet blends, and a unique atmosphere. This concept can be expanded to spread the word about community events and fundraisers in which New Tradition hosts and participates.

Using a limited color palette and consistent bold lines and shading that reflects this specific style of American Traditional art, I created a simple design language that can be carried from month to month, with typefaces, colors, layout, and illustrations directly inspired by New Tradition's clean and organized Instagram feed. These illustrations were sketched and brought to life digitally in Procreate, and the layout for the calendar was built using Adobe InDesign.
This is a mock project and is not in any way affiliated with New Tradition Company.
